    Superb

Great location, very pleasant staff, excellent meals.

    Fabulous

everything was lovely and comfortable, apart from the problem with the television in our room as the quality of teletext (for subtitles) was very poor. For the price we paid, the television needs to be upgraded for better quality of teletext subtitles - especially for full access and equality as termed under the disability discrimmination act.

    Exceptional

The superior double room was great: we had a lovely view of the hills, the good sized room was quiet and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The bar meal menu was a bit restrictive.

    Fabulous

The location was wonderful. Stunning walks on the door step. The restaurant was excellent serving unusual combinations of perfectly cooked food at a reasonable charge. Lovely views from most of the windows.

The wallpaper and especially the cover on the bed made the room look untidy and dated so it did not have a restful look.

    Fabulous

the location of the hotel was excellent, the staff curtious and professional at all times, the dinner menu was varied and of a very high standard

our bed was not the most comfortable, and some parts of the hotel could do with refurbishment

    Fabulous

The hotel is out of the way, quiet and in beautiful surroundings. We would have loved to have stayed longer and am sure we will come again. The history of the hotel is great , the feel of the hotel is lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed it, thankyou.

The location in was excellent for our purpose and the surrounding scenery was beautiful! Well worth the money we paid. Breakfast was included in the tarrif but could have been a bit more substantial.

A charming older hotel in an idyllic setting, with everything you would expect for a classic English holiday in the country. Scenery was stunning and we were awakened in the morning by the birds singing and the bleating of the lambs (I am not exaggerating). The breakfast was superb and the service polite and professional. We did not try dinner in the dining room but had two meals in the bar (I would recommend the lamb burger especially). Although it was in the countryside we were only a relatively short drive from Ashbourne with plenty of independent shops and a pleasant park with a pond.

There was nothing we did not like about the Izaak Walton.

    Fabulous

This hotel is in a wonderful area, for the fit it's marvellous and for the less fit a beautiful place to relax and unwind. We found the restaurant meals abit pricey but enjoyed a very good priced bar meal. Loved the sound of the sheep roundabouts and the birds twittering - only slight car noise from below. We enjoyed a special price for accomodation, the normal prices would have been too much for us to manage. All in all, a delightful stay.
